Lorenzo Carboni (born 27 February 2006) is an Italian professional tennis player.

Early life

He is from Alghero on the island of Sardinia. His father Sebastiano was an amateur footballer. He started playing tennis when he was three years-old. In 2018, he moved to train at the Piatti Tennis Center in Bordighera.[1][2] In 2021, he became Italian U16 champion.[3] In 2022, alongside Lorenzo Angelini and Federico Cinà he reached the final of the European under-16 team championship.[1]

Junior career

He was a semi finalist of the Boy's singles at the 2024 French Open, defeating French local Mae Malige and Australian Open junior winner Rei Sakamoto.[4][5] In the semi final he lost narrowly 7-6 (7-3), 4-6, 7-6 (10-4) to Tomasz Berkieta.[6]

Professional career

He played his first ITF tournament in March 2023 in Tunisia and came through qualifying to reach the semi-final. In July 2023 in Biella he played his first ITF final. Later that year, he won his debut match on the Challenger Tour, in Como.[2]
