Lloyd Aboagye (born 9th November 1987) is a Ghanaian-Italian filmmaker bridging the gap between African and European storytelling.[1] Lloyd Aboagye received recognition for his film Newsman[2] at the Blackstar International Film Festival [3]Lloyd Aboagye is a screenwriter, film director and film producer.

Career

Early Career

Lloyd Aboagye made his directorial debut in 2015 , "L’amico Della Notte," in a collaborative effort with the Film Commission of Brescia, Italy. Crossing between Ghana and Italy, Aboagye went to Ghana in 2017 where he produced "Arena," a film centered around the world of boxing. He has collaborated with Eddie Nartey, Prince David Osei and his portfolio includes short films like "Too late," "Fucile Da Caccia," "Bedtime," and "Portraits."

Notable Work

In 2020, Aboagye teamed up with African film actor and producer Prince David Osei to bring Newsman to life. A captivating fiction piece set in the pre-colonial era of modern-day Ghana, Newsman revolves around the hidden treasures of the Fante people. This work has earned him features at the Ghana Cinema Week 2023 [4], a dedicated celebration of the compelling narratives within Ghanaian cinema. The National Film Authority (NFA) selected Newsman for the Electrified Edition of this annual event which held screenings in Tamale, Kumasi and Accra.

Lloyd Aboagye is the founder of Ninth November Films. He continues to contribute to filmmaking in Ghana and Italy.
