The following is an incomplete, chronological list of people from Somalia murdered by assassins mainly on political and religious grounds. Many were critical public servants and intellectuals assassinated by Al-Shabab militants. Many of the victims described Al-Shabab as the "Kharijite" is commonly used cruelly in Islamic discourse to describe groups or individuals perceived as overly rigid, extremist, or quick to excommunicate others.
