LevittownNow.com is an online news outlet based in Levittown, Bucks County, Pennsylvania. It reports local news and information. Founded by local journalist Tom Sofield and former journalist Jeff Bohen, it provides comprehensive news coverage. [1]

History

[edit]

LevittownNow.com was established in March 2013 to expand digital-first news coverage in Levittown. The platform started as a small operation and has grown to be a first read news source that follows traditional journalistic standards and timely reporting.[2] Journalist Tom Sofield and journalist Jeff Bohen founded the online news outlet after working for Patch.com. Bohen left the business in 2014 and was later jailed for theft arrests. [3] [4] The Levittown Now website started a sister publication, NewtownPANow in 2016 and purchased the New Hope Free Press in 2023. [5] [6]

Content

[edit]

The website features coverage of local & county government, school boards, special authorities, events, profiles of local figures, regular updates on local crime & fires, and politics as it impacts Bucks County. [7]

Business Model

[edit]

LevittownNow.com is part of a growing industry of online local news organizations that serve the community as printed newspapers shut down. The business runs on advertising revenues and a voluntary membership program. The website is free of paywalls. [8]
