Leotard Cheese is a food item consisting of a slice of cheese topped with sprinkles. The name was coined in an attempt to honor Jules Léotard, a 19th-century French acrobat and performer, who is known for giving his name to the garment "leotard." The concept originated from a YouTube Shorts video by the YouTube channel @_magnify, in which the creator suggests naming everyday objects after Jules Léotard as part of a campaign to give Léotard more eponyms and surpass Alexander von Humboldt's record for the most things named after a single person.
The video humorously compares Jules Léotard to the explorer Alexander von Humboldt, who holds the record for having the most things named after a person. The suggestion of naming a slice of cheese with sprinkles "Leotard Cheese" adds to this effort, encouraging the audience to name other items after Léotard.
