History of Lake Mega Chad

[edit]

Lake Mega Chad existed in the late Holocene 7,000 years ago (the date can be debatable). People used the lake as well. A boat, the oldest boat discovered in Africa (the Dufuna Canoe) , was found at lake Mega Chad. It dried up due to Milankovitch Cycles, the angle of Earth's axis, shape of Earth's orbit, etc around 1,000 years ago.[3]
