Kusum Kandwal (born 06 November 1963) is an Indian politician and a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party, serving as the 6th Chairperson of the Uttarakhand State Commission For Women since 2022.
Personal life and career
[edit][edit] Kusum Kandwal was born in a Garhwali Hindu family at Oni village of Pauri Garhwal district in the state of Uttarakhand. Her family moved to Kirtinagar of Tehri Garhwal district in the state of Uttarakhand. Her father was a Doctor. She post graduated from Garhwal University in Hindi Litrature.
Political career
[edit][edit] Kusum Kandwal started her political career in the year 2002 with the Bharatiya Janata Party. Kusum Kandwal worked as president of a Gau Raksha Samiti, Yamkeshwer. She elected in 2003 of District Panchayat Election as a member of District Panchayat Council since 2003 to 2008. She also served as the Uttarakhand state president of the Bharatiya Janata Party Mahila Morcha since 2007 to 2010. She also served as the national executive member of the Bharatiya Janata Party Mahila Morcha since 2010 to 2013.
