Coaching Career
[edit]Serhii Mykolayovych began working as a kids football coach in 1993 after moving to Cherkasy, while simultaneously working as a physical education teacher at school No. 33.
Over his career, Serhiy Kovalevych earned a reputation as a coach capable of identifying the potential of young footballers and helping them achieve high results. Among his students are Dovbyk, Boyko, Tyshchenko, Drachenko and many others who have achieved significant success in soccer.[1] and in life. Thanks to Serhii Kovalevych's professional dedication, his students achieve high results at national and international levels.
One of the key features of his coaching methodology is his individual approach to each player, which allows him to unlock the potential of young athletes. He is also known for his exceptional sense of humor[2]. He actively works with young talents, ensuring not only their physical preparation but also their mental development, which is crucial for a sportsman. In his interviews, Serhii Kovalevych emphasizes that success in football is the result not only of talent but also of hard work and discipline, which he instills for his students from an early age. His high standards for himself and his players, fairness, and participation in numerous local, national, and international tournaments are significant elements of his coaching and mentoring methodology.
He also actively collaborates with the parents of his players to ensure the harmonious development of young athletes, both in sports and in life. His continuous support for his students throughout their careers and beyond is noted in numerous media comments[3][4][5]
One of the main Kovalevych's achievements is his active role in the development of youth football at the regional level. He organizes regional tournaments, which stimulate interest in sports among local youth[6]. His students not only become football players but also children's coaches (such as Zhenya Borysyuk and Viktor Parkhomenko), passing on their positive experiences. He is a versatile person — first and foremost, a good teacher, psychologist, mentor, friend, and colleague — focusing not only on identifying talented children and unlocking their potential but also on educating and shaping future footballers as individuals.
Thanks to his many years of experience and achievements, Serhii Kovalevych remains one of the key figures in the development of youth football in Ukraine.
