Kian Andrew Hawes (born 22 August 2011) is an Irish politician who has been serving as Member of the UK Youth Parliament for Foyle since October 2024, as Chairperson of the Enagh 'Youthlinks' Committee since May 2024 and as a Politics in Action campaign representative since April 2024.

On 17 October 2024, following a two week election campaign, Hawes succeeded Ellie-Jo Taylor to become the new MYP for Foyle, winning 90 percent of the vote.

Earlier in the year, Hawes succeeded his cousin Jack Long in becoming Chairperson of the Enagh 'Youthlinks' Committee, he was the first to occupy this role in two years.

Early Life and Education

Hawes was born on 22 August 2011 into a working class family, his parents were, Signage Maker, Andrew Hawes and Social Worker, Shauna Hawes. He has two sisters and one brother, he is the youngest.

He attended St Oliver Plunkett Primary School in Strathfoyle.

Early Political Career

[1] Hawes started his political career in 2023 by joining the Workers Party of Britain, however he left the party a year later following the parties protests over election results in Birmingham Yardley where incumbent MP Jess Phillips narrowly beat the Workers Party candidate by 693 votes.

A few months later he joined Volt UK, but left a month later due to differences with the party.
