Kate Louis Faasse (born June 4, 2004) is an American college soccer player who plays as a forward or midfielder for the North Carolina Tar Heels. She received All-Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) first-team honors as a junior in 2024.
Early life
[edit]Faasse was born in Phoenix, Arizona, to Shelley and Adrian Faasse. She attended Pinnacle High School, where she scored 28 goals with 10 assists as a sophomore in 2019–20. She was named her conference's offensive player of the year as a senior with 31 goals and 12 assists in 2021–22.[1][2] She captained her high school team and her SC del Sol club team.[1] She trained with the United States youth national team at the under-14 level and virtually at the under-18 level.[1] She committed to the University of North Carolina in her senior year.[2]
College career
[edit]Faasse was used as a substitute in her freshman and sophomore years with the North Carolina Tar Heels, scoring 4 goals in 40 games. After stepping into a starting position, she emerged as North Carolina's leading scorer in her junior season in 2024, receiving first-team All-Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) honors.[1][3] She scored her first two goals of the year in the last three minutes of a 3–2 comeback win over Colorado.[4] She scored her third brace by way of one penalty and one header in a 2–0 win over Virginia Tech in the first round of the ACC tournament.[3] She did the same for her fourth brace in the conference final, a 3–2 loss to Florida State, and was named to the all-tournament team.[5]
