Juan José Bernabe Perez (born on December 30th, 1995) is a Dominican-American healthcare professional, educator, and community advocate. He is recognized for his contributions to public health, and risk management, and his dedication to supporting immigrant and LGBTQIA+ communities.

Early Life and Education:

Born in the Dominican Republic, Juan José Bernabe Perez emigrated to the United States with his mother at the age of eleven, settling in Lawrence, Massachusetts. Overcoming challenges related to language barriers and cultural assimilation, he pursued higher education with determination.

He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish and Chemistry from Denison University in 2017, where he engaged in chemistry research and leadership initiatives. He later obtained a Master of Science in Health and Wellness Management from Merrimack College in 2020 and a Master of Public Health with a focus on Epidemiology from Regis College in 2023.

Professional Career:

HRI Hospital

In 2024, Juan joined HRI Hospital in Brookline, Massachusetts, as the Director of Risk Management and Performance Improvement. In this role, he oversees risk management programs and ensures compliance with federal, state, and local healthcare regulations.

Eliot Community Human Services

From 2023 to 2024, Juan served as Site Director for the Emergency Family Shelter Assessment Center, where he managed a $19 million budget. His work focused on providing medical aid, housing, and job training support to families experiencing homelessness.

Merrimack College

Since 2021, Juan has served as an Adjunct Professor of Health Science and Public Health at Merrimack College. He integrates equity, diversity, and inclusion into his curriculum while mentoring students from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.

Juan’s research spans public health, biomedical sciences, and clinical care. Notable presentations and publications include:
