Josh Bogorad is an American sports broadcaster currently serving as the play-by-play announcer for the Dallas Stars of the National Hockey League (NHL).[1]. He has been with the Stars broadcast team since 2013[2].

Early Life and Education

Bogorad was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. He attended the University of Arizona, where he developed his skills as a student broadcaster and gained a passion for ice hockey commentary[3].

Broadcasting Career

Bogorad began his career covering the Los Angeles Kings on the radio. In 2003, he was named the radio broadcaster for the Corpus Christi IceRays of the CHL. He remained with the organization until 2010, when he was hired by the Alaska Aces as their broadcaster.[4] He called games on both radio and television for the Aces, including a championship season in 2010–11.

In 2013, Bogorad joined the Dallas Stars as the radio host, broadcasting pre-game, intermission, and post-game coverage on Sportsradio 1310 and 96.7 FM The Ticket. In 2014, he became the host of Stars Live, the team’s pre-game and post-game show on Bally Sports Southwest[2].

In 2018, Bogorad was promoted to the role of play-by-play announcer for the Dallas Stars. He has worked alongside color analyst Daryl Reaugh, calling games on television and radio for the team. In 2024, the Stars' broadcasts moved from Bally Sports Southwest to Victory+[1].

Notable events during his tenure with the Stars include calling the 2020 Winter Classic at the Cotton Bowl[5], the 2020 Stanley Cup Final between the Dallas Stars and Tampa Bay Lightning[6], and two games in Finland between the Dallas Stars and Florida Panthers for the 2024 NHL Global Series[1].

On November 29, 2024, Bogorad made his national broadcasting debut as the play-by-play announcer for the NHL on TNT[7]

Bogorad lives in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex with his family.

  • 2020: Named Texas Sportscaster of the Year by the National Sports Media Association (NSMA).[9]
  • 2022: Won two Lone Star Regional Sports Emmy Awards for excellence in sports broadcasting.[10]
