[edit]

Born in Germany, her parents move to Sardinia (Italy), when she was four years old.[1], where she currently lives and works.

She studied art at the Accademia di Belle Arti "Mario Sironi" di Sassari. While many of her student colleagues moved to Milan, London or Berlin, she decided to stay in Sardinia. In 1995 she had has first solo exhibition in Alghero[2], a defining moment in her artist career[3]

In the following years, Sassu took part in numerous solo and collective exhibitions, in Sardinia and in Italy[2][4], where she adopted many different artistic expressions, from sculpture, to drawing, to photography.

Art works

[edit]

Sassu's work is inspired by Italo Calvino (especially the Our Ancestors trilogy), and Pino Pascali.[3]

Her work is characterized by being ephemeral, ironic and playful, with references to the pop culture of her childhood, from cartoons like Barbapapa, Goldrake, Heidi or Puffi, to games like Lego bricks.

Nowadays, Sassu combines her artistic practice with teaching activity.
