Submission declined on 11 August 2024 by Jdcomix (talk). This submission's references do not show that the subject qualifies for a Wikipedia article—that is, they do not show significant coverage (not just passing mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject (see the guidelines on the notability of people). Before any resubmission, additional references meeting these criteria should be added (see technical help and learn about mistakes to avoid when addressing this issue). Joseph Coscia, Jr (1960 Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) is an American photographer. After graduating from Kutztown University of Pennsylvania, he soon made his mark in the 1980’s New York art scene as a trusted photographer for artists such as Keith Haring, Dan Friedman, Richard Prince, Komar and Melamid, Maya Lin, Anthony Gormley, Vladimir Kanevsky and Terence Main. His specialty photographing art and objects led to a position as staff photographer for The Metropolitan Museum of Art from 1991 until 2020, including as Chief Photographer there from 2006 until 2020. He is currently the photographer for The Frick Collection.
Joseph’s museum work fostered in him an affinity for classical forms and fascination with the qualities of light on surfaces and forms in changing conditions. In both his museum and personal work, he explores textures, surfaces, and the play of light on and through objects. He has produced photography for private collections and galleries including Art et Industrie, Tony Shafrazi Gallery, Salvatore Ala Gallery, Rosa Esman Gallery, The Jan and Maricia Vilcek Foundation, Paul and Melinda Sullivan Foundation for the Decorative Arts, Pace Gallery, Peter Marino, and The Keith Haring Foundation.
