Jon Avner was born on June 24, 1953 in New York City, New York, USA. He is an actor[1], known for The Quality of Mercy (2002)[2], Citizen Toxie: The Toxic Avenger IV (2000)[3] and Biohazardous (2001),[4] as a voice actor in anime such as Berserk and Darkside Blues and as General DiRavello in the video game Just Cause 3.[5] He appeared in such plays as Tod The Boy Tod at Crossroads Theater[2] and is the founder and Artistic Director of the New York murder mystery dinner theater group The Killing Kompany.[3]
He is also an attorney who practices under his legal name Jon Michael Probstein. He represented Arch Oboler in his litigation over his rights to his radio shows, Oboler v. Goldin, 714 F. 2d 211 - Court of Appeals, 2nd Circuit 1983[4], a case which is often cited for the proposition that punitive damages are not available under the Copyright Act, and also represented record companies such as Caroline Records, a division of Virgin Records.[5]
Most recently, he was the voice of Gin in the 2020 English dub of Tokyo Godfathers
