John de Nugent ( Nugent; born 1954) is an American white nationalist writer and political candidate who has founded several antisemitic websites, including LeoFrank.org and MaryPhagan.info.[1][2][3] The websites aim to falsely convince readers of the guilt of Jewish-American lynching victim Leo Frank while purporting to present historical archive materials relating to his trial and conviction.[4] De Nugent was an acquaintance of James Wenneker von Brunn, an American White supremacist who perpetrated the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum shooting in 2009.[5][6]

Early life

[edit]

John Nugent was born on July 14, 1954 in Providence, Rhode Island, United States.[1][‡ 1] A biography published on his website says he was descended from Thomas Angell, a co-founder of the Rhode Island colony.[1][‡ 1] He later changed his surname to de Nugent in response to anti-French sentiment during the Iraq War.[1]
