John Starnes (born December 7, 1950) is an American gospel singer.
He began his musical career as a tenor with the Jimmy Swaggart Ministries in the early 1980s. He was also hired as a pilot for the ministry's airplane.[1] Starnes spent over ten years singing with the Ministry.[2]
In 1991, John began his own solo ministry, appearing on a variety of faith-based television programs such as Bill Gaither homecoming and others.[3]
Career
[edit]John was born on December 7, 1950, in Atlanta,Georgia.[3]
During his career in the Jimmy Swaggart Ministries, he sang in dozens of Jimmy Swaggart Crusades, performing in South Africa, Argentina and other countries all over the world. He recorded over 15 studio albums during his solo career.[4]
He graduated in May of 2008 from Belmont University with a B.S. degree in Liberal Studies.[4]
Personal life
[edit]John and his wife, Teresa, have two grown daughters, Christia and Jessica. They live in Georgia.[5]
