When John Stanley Dickenson was born on 19 January 1929, in Paradise, Ward, North Dakota, United States, his father, William Carl Dickenson, was 47 and his mother, Callie Louise Dickson, was 44. John was a US marine during the Korean conflict and lost his right arm to mortar fire one day before the conflict ended. He's famous for being childhood best friends with Evil Knievel and for getting pulled over for speeding in San Francisco California when he and another VA patient were racing their wheelchairs down the San Francisco streets while recovering from their wounds in the Korean conflict. He married Joanne Burts on 11 September 1951, in Day, South Dakota, United States. He married Barbara Jean Morin in 1966. Despite multiple marriages over the course of his lifetime, he only had one child, Nona Louise Dickenson, born September, 21, 1966. He has two grandchildren, Kia Maria Reyes Black (nee Dickenson) and Benjamin Francis Black. He has one great grandson, Antonio Montana Sakai. He lived in Alaska, United States in 1977 and Rosebud, Oliver, North Dakota, United States in 1986. He died on 19 January 1986, in Colstrip, Rosebud, Montana, United States, at the age of 57, in a horrific automobile accident in which he was a passenger. John was buried in Sterling Union Cemetery, Sterling, Burleigh, North Dakota, United States.
