Jeanne-Marie is a series of children's books written and illustrated by Franco-American Francoise Seignobosc, under the mononym of Francoise; its titular character is a girl who lives in rural France. It was originally published by Charles Scribner's Sons between 1951 and 1963.

[edit]The books tell the stories of Jeanne-Marie, a girl who lives on a farm in France with her grandmother and animal friends.[2]

In 1999, Smithmark Publishers collected and reissued the first three titles as The Adventures of Jeanne-Marie.[3]
Background
[edit]Creator Francoise Seignobosc (1897–1961) was born in the southern French village of Lodève in Hérault department; she started to draw at age five. Later on, she was educated at Sévigné College in Paris. She worked on the Jeanne-Marie series several years after her move to the United States during World War II.[1]
Reception
