Janus Continental Group is a conglomerate umbrella company[1] owned and founded by Humphrey Kariuki.[1][2] It has offices in Kenya, Mauritius and Dubai.[3] It operates malls, hotels, construction, energy and petroleum companies, and other retail businesses, as well as a conservatory for endangered wildlife.[1] It is one of the largest business conglomerates in Eastern Africa.[4]
The Janus Continental Group legal entity was formed in 2017.[5] Its oldest business was the Green Corner, an African and Kenyan restaurant founded in 1984.[5] This was followed by a second restaurant called Twigs Restaurant & Cactus Bar in 1988.[5]
This was followed by a petroleum business called Dalbit in 2002, a construction business called BSL Infrastructure in 2007, and an energy investment business called GL Africa Energy in 2013.[5] In 2014 Mount Kenya Wildlife Conservancy was acquired.[5] The Mount Kenya Safari Club and The Hub Karen mall were founded in 2015 and 2016 respectively.[5]
