[edit]The Jammu and Kashmir Council of Ministers is the executive body of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, India. It is headed by the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir and is responsible for implementing policies and decisions in the region.
History
[edit]The Council of Ministers was established following the reorganization of Jammu and Kashmir into a Union Territory on October 31, 2019. This reorganization was part of the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganization Act, 2019, which bifurcated the state into two Union Territories: Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh.
Structure
[edit]The Council of Ministers is composed of the Chief Minister and other ministers appointed by the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir. The number of ministers and their portfolios are determined based on the needs of the administration and the political composition of the Legislative Assembly.
