James Nield is a Malaysian-British cinematographer[1] known for his commercial work with major international brands and award-winning narrative films. A member of the International Cinematographers Guild (ICG) and Society of Camera Operators (SOC).[2] His Most well known film being counterpart (2022)[3] which was nominated and won multiple national and International awards at film festivals.[4]
Early life
[edit]Nield was born in 2000 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. He developed a passion for theatrical lighting early on, becoming fascinated by its ability to transform storytelling through stage design. This interest, which sparked his creative journey, led him to explore the world of filmmaking.[5] He later attended and graduated from The Los Angeles Film school with honors and a focus in cinematography[6]
