Draft:Jake Remon George

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Jake Rémon George (in English spelt as Remon), more commonly known as Jake George, is a former Taekwondo athlete, representing Australia on the Australian National Taekwondo Team in 2023 and 2024. Competing in continents such as Europe and Asia, and countries such as Belgium, Netherlands, and Thailand. Jake also competed all around Australia, fighting in all 6 states.

Jake, a black belt, had been training Taekwondo for more than 12 years, and competing for 8. Training under the 3 time Australian Olympic Coach, and 3 time Australian Olympic Athlete, Master Ali Khalil and Coach Safwan Khalil (brother-brother duo), from Global Martial Arts.

Fighting in numerous divisions, Jake's most popular were: - Junior -59kg (130lbs) - Junior -55kg (121lbs) - Senior -54kg (119lbs) - Senior -58kg (128lbs)

Jake under his belt had 5 National Championship appearances, more than 10 State Championship appearances and 3 World Championship Selection appearances. Jake was amongst the most active fighters in all of Australia for many years.

Additionally, Jake was known for his obscure and obscene weight cuts, notably dropping 15-20kg (33-44lbs) consistently multiple times a year. With that being said, Jake says his craziest weight cut was when he dropped 7.5 kg (17lbs) in 3 and a half days, in the middle of winter, where the temperatures were hitting negative degrees (less than 25F) in Europe.

Jake's evidently biggest asset was his 'Fight IQ', seeing the game better than any other at his age. This also has helped with his coaching. Whilst not being the fastest, tallest or strongest, Jake had the ability to turn a fight around in a split second with his spins, punches, protests and mind games. It is a well known fact and opinion that Jake was nobodies favorite to compete against.

Jake George announced retirement early in 2024 after a hard fought competition and 2 week training camp with the Thai National Team and Polish National Team in Bangkok, Thailand.

Since retirement, Jake has become a fully accredited Australian National Coach, making his Regional debut and National debut in the latter of the year.
