Jairam Mahato is an Indian politician from Jharkhand.[1] He is also the working president of the Jharkhand Loktantrik Krantikari Morcha, a newly formed political party in Jharkhand.[3][4]
Early life
[edit]Mahato was born in Dhanbad District, Jharkhand to Krishna Prasad Mahato, a freedom fighter for Jharkhand state. His father died when he was a child. He was the eldest child of his parents. He is pursuing PhD in English Literature.[5]
Career
[edit]Mahato a youth leader who rose to prominence through his activism.[6][7] Jharkhandi Bhasha Khatiyan Sangharsh Samiti led by Jairam Kumar Mahato contested the elections as independents in eight seats in Jharkhand.[8] He founded the Jharkhandi Bhasha Khatiyan Sangharsh Samittee (JBKSS) in the year 2023 [9][10], a new political party, and is a key figure in the ongoing struggle for the state's 1932 domicile policy.[11][12] He contested as independent candidate from the Giridih Lok Sabha constituency, finishing in third position with a total of 347,322 votes.[13] Known for advocating on behalf of students. His commitment to addressing these concerns positioned him as a key voice for justice, eventually leading to his entry into formal politics.[14] Jharkhandi Bhasha Khatiyan Sangarsh Samitee (JBKSS) supremo Jairam Mahto announced the registration of his party as ‘Jharkhand Loktantr Krantikari Morcha (JLKM)’ in Aug 2024 with the Election Commission. They would fight the scheduled assembly elections in the upcoming Jharkhand Vidhan Sabha Election in 2024.[15] Under his leadership, JLKM is going to contest in 74 out of 81 assembly constituencies in 2024 Jharkhand Legislative Assembly election.[16]
