Ivy James is a 17-year-old singer-songwriter from Los Angeles, California, known for her emotionally resonant music that blends alternative folk and indie rock elements. Her debut EP, Ghost of You, released in April of 2024, reflects her unique style, which draws inspiration from artists such as Phoebe Bridgers, Joni Mitchell, Stevie Nicks, Title Fight, and Arcade Fire. Ivy's music has been well-received for its raw and introspective lyrics[1]

In September and October of 2024, Ivy toured with British singer-songwriter JP Cooper, bringing her music to new audiences.[2]

Ivy James developed a passion for music from a young age. She started singing early in childhood, and music became an essential part of her life. She faced challenges growing up in a small town where she felt socially isolated, so James used music as an outlet to express her emotions. She participated in school music programs, which gave her initial performance experiences. And later, Ivy chose to pursue homeschooling, which allowed her to focus more on her music[3] [4]

As she continued to develop as an artist, Ivy worked diligently to hone her skills. Her dedication led to the release of her debut EP, Ghost of You, which showcased her growth as a songwriter and performer. Her hard work culminated in her first tour, which proved her rapid progress in the music industry.[5] [6]

Ivy's music blends elements of alternative folk, indie rock, and introspective songwriting. Her debut EP, Ghost of You, is a reflection of her ability to convey complex emotions through simple yet poignant melodies. Ivy's music has often been compared to the work of artists like Phoebe Bridgers, Joni Mitchell, and Big Thief. One of her notable songs, "Unravel Myself," has been highlighted as an example of her soft yet powerful songwriting, dealing with themes of love, vulnerability, and self-acceptance.[7] [8]
