Il Giomba, pseudonym of Daniele Giomba (Palermo, June 30, 1987) is a musical author, radio speaker, and is the manager of the oldest blog in Italy. He collaborated in 2023 with the Lunezia Award, among the most important musical awards in Italy.

Biography

Born in Palermo on June 30, 1987, he has been involved in music since 1990, when, at the age of three, he began to strum the first keyboard. Over the years he has specialized in Pop Piano, and currently plays the piano, keyboard, recorder, guitar and percussion, after a period of study that continued over the years and that continues even now. His musical studies continued throughout middle and high school, alternating study with live music with various musical groups of the Palermo music scene of the early 2000s: among these we remember the historic formation with "I Profughi", a musical trio for which he plays the keyboards and writes the first unpublished songs.

However, music is not the only important experience: in 2001 he began his activity as a radio speaker starting from a small station located in Settecamini, Rome, "Radio La Voce", now no longer active, to then continue his activity as a television critic and commentator for various national stations, including "Radio Orizzonti Activity", one of the major stations in Salento, until returning to his city, becoming a regular commentator for "Radio Time - Top City Radio", and for other stations for which he hosts his historic format, "Bar Giomba", broadcast, among others, also on "Radio Sprint Palermo", and on various Web Radios, including "LDF - Libertà di Frequenza", Official Web Radio of the University of Palermo. He also hosted "SuoniNuovi - The Sound of New Music" for the Web Radio "Indieffusione".

In 2019, she became the voice of the women's basketball team "Sicily By Car Palermo Basket", coached by Santino Coppa, who at the time was playing in the top division of the Italian Women's Basketball League, commentating on the matches from the sidelines for the team's home games at the "Pala Mangano" in Palermo.

Currently, it successfully runs its Podcast linked to the blog he has been running since 2004.

As objectively demonstrated not only by the publication date of the first post, but also by the research carried out and the report available online, the Blog is constantly updated daily, and represents a unique case, since it is practically impossible to find Blogs born before that date that are still active and still updated daily, month after month, by a single person. The Blog was born on the Tiscali Blog platform, which no longer exists: it is a personal online diary, more precisely defined by the author as a "vent", as it tells the personal stories of the author himself starting from his last year of high school, continuing with his first loves, his first disappointments, his suffering, his rebirth. Among the topics covered by the Blog, TV Criticism, Feelings and Psychology are particularly important, with particular attention to the themes of bullying, anxiety and panic, having been experienced first-hand by the author. In recent times, the Blog has distinguished itself as a point of reference for users affected by Ransomware, thanks to the help offered free of charge through the Blog.

The initial name of the Blog was "Thoughts, Phrases and Emotions", precisely to underline the true essence of the Blog, but during 2008 the name of the Blog becomes "Bar Giomba", while maintaining the previous denomination in the name, so as to convey even more the idea of ​​"a place where you can talk with friends, as if you were sitting at a table in a bar!".

After six years on the Sardinian platform, the Blog emigrates to the AlterVista platform, capable of offering greater freedom of expression and communication to the Blog, which in the meantime switches to the WordPress CMS, which will mark the real turning point for the Blog, which in an interview given to the portal will be defined as "a successful site with competence and spontaneity". The Blog, in fact, stands out for being updated seven days a week, three hundred and sixty-five days a year: subsequently, the Blog will move to its own domain, where it currently resides, breaking through the wall of twelve million visits.

A recent research commissioned by the Blog has highlighted how "Bar Giomba" is, in fact, one of the oldest Italian Blogs still active, with uninterrupted activity since 2004 and without any "gaps" in publication, that is, with publications occurring almost every day, for all months of the year, starting from May 2004.

Precisely as manager of the oldest Blog in Italy, "Il Giomba" participated as a speaker at the Palermo WordPress Meetup, organized by the publishing platform, to tell his experience and offer discussion points.

Music Author

On June 21, 2024, he presents, exclusively on the Palermo radio station "Radio In", the single "Balla con me" (Dance with me), which immediately becomes a national hit, being broadcast not only on the Palermo station that relaunches it during daily appointments, but also on various national coverage stations that relaunch it throughout the territory. The song was written for the singer Cyan, pseudonym of Barbara Rossi, although only the name of the author appears on the cover. The album "Pragmatico" is scheduled for release on September 21, 2024, containing 20 unreleased songs always sung by the singer Cyan who brought the first single to success.
