I Gedé Gita Purnama Arsa Putra, Bayu Gita, or Gita Purnama (Denpasar, Bali: ᬕᬶᬢᬧᬸᬃᬦᬫ, 29 October 1985 – 25 February 2023) was a Balinese writer and lecturer of Balinese literature at Udayana University.[1] He is known as one of four founders of Balinese Wikipedia, the first digital encyclopedia for balinese language and Balinese wikisource.[2][3] He researched on Balinese manuscripts[4] and was also a part of the O.prasi community, which creates artworks on palm leaves.[5] He worked to promote Balinese palm leaf manuscripts along with his wife, Carma Citrawati.[6].

[edit]He did his bachelors from Udayana University in 2008 and his masters from the same in 2012.[7]
Career
[edit]He enjoyed writing poetry, short stories, and essays since he was in middle school.[citation needed] He wrote many research articles for Cultoure: Scientific Journal of Hindu Cultural Tourism.[8]
Gita Purnama wrote three collections of poems "Déndang Dénpasar Nyiur Sanur", "Dénpasar miwah Donpasar", and "Angripta Rum". He also published a collection of short stories with his wife titled "Smara Réka" in 2014. Apart from that, he was also part of the writing team for the biography of I Wayan Beratha, a Balinese artist.[9]
He has been active in the world of literature since elementary school, he has participated in a poetry competition and won a prize.[citation needed] During junior high school, he also wrote a poem entitled "Tilem", because of this poem, he was called tilem.[10] He wrote articles for local magazines and newspapers.[citation needed]
Subsequently, he worked as a lecturer at the Hindu Dharma Negeri Institute in 2012.[9] Then, he taught at STIKOM Bali.[7] He went on to become a lecturer at his alma mater, Udayana University.[11][12]
He was very active in preserving Balinese language, script and literature. So, he built the Aliansi Peduli Bahasa Bali (Balinese Language Caring Alliance) organization that deployed 1000 Balinese language educators in 2015.[citation needed]
In 2016, he received the Rancage Literary Award in the field of development and preservation of Balinese literature and culture.[9][13][14]
He was a part of the O.prase community which creates artworks consisting of illustrations on palm leaves.[5]
