Hung Le (born Le Trung Hung, in 1966) is a Vietnamese-born Australian comedian. He is a trained classical violinist, and with the Como String Quartet, won the 1987 Hey Hey It's Saturday Red Faces competition.[1] His books include The crappiest refugee, a nod to Anh Do's title, The happiest refugee.[2]
Early life as a refugee
[edit]Le and his family escaped then-Saigon on 29 April 1975 in a prawn trawler, which was then ransacked by pirates.[3] After being rescued by the US Navy, the family reached Melbourne via Guam.[4] Le's father Thanh Nhon Le worked in Vietnam as an artist and art lecturer. He then worked as a tram conductor once reaching Melbourne.[5]
