Hullabaloo is an animated web series of shorts created and directed by James López.
The project was first announced in 2014, as part of an effort by former Walt Disney Animation Studios animators to keep hand-drawn animation active, and continued development for 9 years. The series was financed via crowd-founding from Indiegogo, which allowed the project to expand from an individual short to a series as well as finance additional aspects such as music score.
Hullabaloo began releasing in November 24, 2023, on YouTube. Four shorts are expected to be released.[1]

[edit]Development
[edit]In 2014, it was reported that veteran Disney animator James Lopéz was working on fundraising for a project named Hullabaloo, a hand-drawn animated short film written by Lopéz and G. D. Falksen.[5] The project is part of an effort by Lopéz to preserve hand-drawn animation, and was intended to serve as a pitch to be shown to investors in hopes of being greenlight as a feature film.[6] The project reached a funding of $160 million dollars in 6 days.[5] The increased finances allowed the team to develop three additional shorts.[7]
Music
[edit]The score for the shorts was composed by Manel Gil-Inglada.[7]
Release
[edit]The first Hullabaloo was released on November 24, 2023, on YouTube.[2]
