Historic Namesake

The name pays homage to Robert Henderson’s Henderson Brewery, while short lived was the first commercial brewery in Toronto when it began in 1802.[2] Henderson’s Best was crafted to recreate the brews made by their namesake in 1802.[3]

After 1808 brewery changed hands times

  • William Allan - who sold it to Dr Thomas Stoyell in 1822.
  • Joseph Shaw 1825-1832 whom had his own operations in southeast corner of Duchess and Caroline to Henderson at northeast corner.
  • John Lynch - renamed Caroline Brewery in 1832 but returned to Brampton by 1839
  • John Doel - whom sold it after moving his own operations in Tororonto and ceased after fire in 1847; he was a Reformer with links to William Lyon Mackenzie
  • Robert Jewell - as Jewell Brewery in 1846 after acquiring from Doel
  • John Walz in 1859 and had a portion of Tadddle Creek renamed as Walz Creek
  • Reinhart and Company / Lothar Reinhardt Sr. - as Reinhart in 1887
  • Ignatius Kormann - as Kormann Lager Brewery in 1894 to 1897

Sometime after 1897 it was converted as blacksmith shop and later demolished.[4]
