Early Life and Education
Dr. Helen Hoang, also known as Dr. Hang Hoang, grew up in Cao Bang, a mountainous region of Vietnam. Her journey from this remote area to Canberra, the capital city of Australia,, is a powerful illustration of how education can transform the life of a female ethnic minority from rural Vietnam, allowing her to become an accomplished Australian economist and author.
Dr. Helen Hoang has dedicated her work to promoting economic literacy for children, as well as to advancing health and welfare economics. She earned her Ph.D. in Economics from the Australian National University (ANU) and holds three master’s degrees in Economic Policy, Business Administration, and Development Studies from prestigious institutions in Australia, Switzerland, and Vietnam. Her commitment to academic excellence has been recognized through multiple scholarships awarded during her postgraduate studies. Her unique background and work experience greatly influence the development of her books and fuel her passion for teaching children about economics and financial literacy.
Career
Before her publication, Dr. Hoang's career encompassed a diverse array of roles in economics, data analysis, and public policy. She has compiled significant resources, including the Health Expenditure Australia Database and the Australian Child Well-being Data Assets.
In addition to her work in Australia, Dr. Hoang actively contributed to a public administration reform project funded by Switzerland. This non-profit initiative aimed to enhance grassroots democracy and improve public service delivery in Cao Bang, Vietnam. She also served as an economics lecturer at the Faculty of Business Administration at Ton Duc Thang University in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
Dr. Hoang's expertise extends to strategic consulting in economic policy, business development, and research. She has conducted workshops on economics, personal growth, and entrepreneurship, inspiring both individuals and organizations to build knowledge and foster growth.
