From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

HashKey Exchange is a licensed digital asset exchange platform based in Hong Kong[1], primarily focused on providing regulated and secure trading services for digital assets in the fintech and blockchain sectors.[1][2] Founded in 2018 by Dr. Xiao Feng, HashKey Exchange is Hong Kong’s first licensed exchange to offer retail trading of bitcoin and ether on mobile.[3][4]

History

[edit]

HashKey Exchange was founded to promote digital assets and blockchain technology through secure, regulated trading. Led by Dr. Xiao Feng and supported by HashKey Group, the exchange is licensed by the Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission (SFC), making it one of the few regulated platforms in the region.[5]

In April 2023, HashKey Group launched HashKey PRO, a virtual asset exchange approved by the SFC with Type 1 and Type 7 licenses.[5] HashKey PRO is certified to ISO 27001 and ISO 27701 standards, ensuring high compliance and security. It supports fiat transactions via SWIFT, partnering with ZA Bank for settlements.[5]

CEO Livio Weng, also COO of HashKey Group, brings over a decade of experience, including his time as CEO of Huobi Global. Under his leadership, HashKey Exchange secured a license on August 3, 2023, under Hong Kong's new crypto trading rules, allowing retail Bitcoin and Ethereum services starting August 28, 2023.[6]

In November 2023, HashKey Exchange signed an MoU with China Asset Management (Hong Kong) and HamsaTech to collaborate on Web 3.0 asset management initiatives, aligning with Hong Kong’s focus on emerging digital finance.[6]

Services

[edit]

HashKey Exchange offers two primary trading platforms to accommodate different user needs.[6] The HashKey Exchange App is a mobile application designed for users to trade digital assets conveniently from their phones. It provides secure access along with real-time asset tracking, allowing for trading on the go.[6] The HashKey Exchange Web platform is a web-based interface that delivers a comprehensive trading experience tailored for both retail and institutional investors, enabling more advanced trading features and accessibility.[6][7]

Compliance and license

[edit]

HashKey Exchange stands out as one of the first licensed virtual asset exchanges in Hong Kong to offer retail services.[8] The company is fully licensed by the Securities and Futures Commission (SFC),[8] [3][9]
