Junior Career
[edit]DeMattia played junior football for Edithvale Aspendale Junior Football Club (Vic). In 2022, he joined the Dandenong Stingrays in the Talent League, and was appointed captain for the 2023 season. His performance in the 2023 season earned him a spot in the Talent League's Team of the Year. At the 2023 AFL National Championships DeMattia co-captained the Victoria Country representative side alongside Harley Reid.[1].
Apart his football career, DeMattia has showcased his prowess in cricket, notably captaining Australia in indoor cricket at the age of 12 during the 2018 Junior World Series in New Zealand. Despite considering a professional career in cricket, he opted to focus solely on football after being appointed captain of the Stingrays in 2023[2].
AFL Career
[edit]DeMattia was drafted by Collingwood with the 25th overall selection in the 2023 AFL Draft[3]
