Submission declined on 29 August 2024 by Ktkvtsh (talk). This submission's references do not show that the subject qualifies for a Wikipedia article—that is, they do not show significant coverage (not just passing mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject (see the guidelines on the notability of music-related topics). Before any resubmission, additional references meeting these criteria should be added (see technical help and learn about mistakes to avoid when addressing this issue). Charith Peris, known by his stage name, hachajah, is a singer-songwriter and producer. Born in Sri Lanka, he has been involved in Sri Lankan choral scene, both accompanied and a cappella, before he emigrated to the US.[1]. He formed hachajah in 2024.
He creates original a cappella music inspired by his experiences growing up in war-torn Sri Lanka[2]. In contrast to typical a cappella where a significant portion of work is dedicated to covers, hachajah’s main goal was to promote the creation of a cappella originals[3].
His first EP album titled No Place Like was based on his experiences growing up in the city of Colombo, Sri Lanka[4].
Career
[edit]hachajah's debut EP album titled No Place Like comprises of narratives set in South Asian culture with arrangements that are pop heavy[5]. The title song Colombo Sky fuses Sri Lankan drum beats with pop a cappella to bring out his fond experiences in Colombo. Closer is about teenage love and infatuation while Mother, as the title suggests, is a tribute to his mother[6]
