Greg Déda (Artist)
Canadian artist Greg Deda is internationally known for his vast collections of paintings primarily magic realism and abstract expressionism. He is an internationally recognized painter and set designer. In 1996 Greg Deda studied at the Scuola Dei Beni Culturali (Now the University of Salento) in Italy. During his time there he worked with restoring icon panels and frescos.
He was deeply inspired by frescos painted by the great maestros of the early to late renaissance period (Michelangelo, Botticelli and Mantegna). He later explored the art of the post Berlin Wall Era attending Kunst Schule in Germany where he met emerging and established artists such as Gerhard Richter and Jörg Immendorff.
Greg Deda exhibitions are internationally recognized, with shows in Torino, Dusseldorf, Munich, Toronto, and more recently in London. His body of work has earned a place in both private and public collections admired for his dreamlike and ambiguous atmosphere with its capacity to evoke emotional responses. Exploring with themes of time, illusions and the subconscious.
Greg Deda’s private and public collections of magical realism are one of the most unique works in modern day art today. Each conveying and expressing multi sensory themes and perspectives, designed to emotionally awaken his audience. Themes of altering societies, roman mythology, ambiguous nature and architecture are staged in his mysterious scenes and compositions.
Deda’s abstract collections vary in a spectrum of abstract expressionism and semi abstract. His eccentric abstract paintings connect to the subconscious of the mind, nature such as seen in his semi abstract paintings all evoking a grounding sensation.
