[edit]Western Province: Knoop played for Western Province in the Vodacom Cup, contributing to their strong performance in the tournament. Under coach John Dobson, the team was highly successful, with Knoop playing a key role in their campaign. He was part of the squad that faced teams like the Griquas and the Golden Lions in crucial matches, alongside notable players such as Bolla Conradie, Cheslin Kolbe, Gerbrandt Grobler, and Tim Swiel.[1][2][3][4][5]
Ospreys: Knoop played for the Ospreys in Wales during the 2013-2014 season, participating in both the Pro12 and the LV= Cup. During his tenure, he played alongside notable players such as Alun Wyn Jones, Dan Biggar, Richard Hibbard, Tito Tebaldi, and Hanno Dirksen.[6][7][8][9][10]
Club Career

University of Cape Town Ikey Tigers: In 2012, Knoop played for the University of Cape Town's rugby team, the Ikey Tigers, in the Varsity Cup. This competition is notable for its role in developing young rugby talent in South Africa. During his time with the Ikey Tigers, Knoop contributed to the team's competitive performances, helping to solidify their reputation in the Varsity Cup tournament.[14][15][16][17][18][19][20]
Coaching Career
[edit]High School Teams: Knoop has coached several high school U19 1st XV teams in South Africa, including Bishops, South African College Schools (SACS), and Wynberg Boys' High School. His coaching at these prestigious institutions has helped develop young rugby talent and maintain high standards of performance.[21]
Zimbabwe Sables and Goshawks: After his playing career, Knoop transitioned into coaching, working with the Zimbabwe Sables as a forwards coach. During his tenure, the team experienced significant success in the IRB world rankings, moving from 47th to 24th in the world. He played a significant role in the team's participation in the Africa Cup and the 2023 World Cup qualifiers.[22]
Florida Pelicans: Knoop served as the head coach of the Florida-based rugby team, the Pelicans, taking them to two state finals in 2023 and 2024. His leadership and coaching skills were instrumental in the team's success during these seasons.[23][24]
