"Global Talent Extravaganza" is the first episode of the first season of the reality television series RuPaul's Drag Race Global All Stars, which first aired on August 16, 2024, through American streaming service network Paramount+. The episode has the selected contestants participate in a talent show. Adriana Lima serves as a guest judge, alongside regular panelists RuPaul, Michelle Visage, and Jamal Sims.
Alyssa Edwards and Kween Kong both won the main challenge. They both were placed in the top two and lip-syncing to "Only Girl (In the World)" (2010) by Rihanna.
Episode
[edit]RuPaul welcomes twelve contestants to the main stage with the runway category being "Opening Ceremony Eleganza", where each contestant answers a "comical" question from the judging panelists.[1] RuPaul announces no contestant from the series will be eliminated from the first main challenge, and selected six contestants—Alyssa Edwards, Athena Likis, Kitty Scott-Claus, Kween Kong, Miranda Lebrão, and Soa de Muse—to participate in a talent show, whereas the rest of the participants will perform next week.[2] The contestants are sent to the Werk Room where they were given a chance to meet each other, meanwhile they discuss their chosen performances.
RuPaul introduces Brazilian model Adriana Lima as the guest judge, alongside regular panelists Michelle Visage and Jamal Sims. Kween Kong performs an original lip-sync, with Miranda Lebrão doing a trapeze act, meanwhile Kitty Scott-Claus and Soa de Muse are live singing, Athena Likis enacting a burlesque-comedy routine, lastly Alyssa Edwards acts out a comedy lip-sync based on tongue popping. The runway category is "Garden of Eden". Kween Kong and Alyssa Edwards were declared as the top two contestants of the week and face off in a lip-sync contest to "Only Girl (In the World)" (2010) by Rihanna, for the win. RuPaul revealed it was a tie, and named both contestants as winners for the main challenge.[3]
Production
[edit]The 52-minute episode was directed by Nick Murray alongside edited by Martin Kershaw, and originally aired on Paramount+ in the U.S. on August 16, 2024.[4]
