Global League (commonly abbreviated as G-League) is an annual futsal competition organized by the OSIS (student council) of Global Prestasi's Senior High (GPSHS). First held in 2023, the event has become a significant part of the school’s activities, promoting sportsmanship, teamwork, and community spirit. The tournament is usually held in January or February and marks the beginning of the school’s second semester.
The competition is divided into two stages: the group stage and the G-League FINALS, which use a knockout format. It features separate categories for boys and girls. The boys' competition includes six teams, while the girls' competition has three teams. In both categories, teams compete to win the championship title.
Organized entirely by students, the G-League has become a key tradition at Global Prestasi's Senior High. It not only highlights the players’ skills but also demonstrates the organizing abilities of the student council. The event has grown in popularity, fostering school spirit and enthusiasm for futsal.
History
[edit]Format
[edit]The G-League competition format is divided into two main stages: the group stage and the knockout stage, known as the G-League FINALS. The tournament features a total of six teams in the boys' competition and three teams in the girls' competition. Each batch is allowed to form up to two boys’ teams and one girls’ team, ensuring broad participation.
Group Stage
[edit]In the group stage, the boys’ competition is divided into two groups, each consisting of three teams, while the girls’ competition has a single group of three teams. During this stage, all teams play against each other once, following a points system commonly used in football. Teams earn points based on match results, with the top two teams from each group advancing to the G-League FINALS.
G-League FINALS
[edit]The G-League FINALS feature four teams in the boys' category and two teams in the girls' category. In the boys’ semifinals, the first-placed teams from each group face the second-placed teams from the opposite group. The winners of these matches proceed to the final. In the girls’ competition, the top two teams from the group stage advance directly to the final.
The champions are determined in the final match of each category, with the winning teams earning the title of G-League champions. This format ensures a competitive and structured progression from group play to the finals, maintaining excitement throughout the tournament.
