The Global Iqra' Qur'an Recitation Competition is an international Islamic Qur'an recital event held annually since 2021 in Ontario, Canada.[1]
History
[edit]Co-sponsored by Canada's Organization of North American Shia Ithna-asheri Muslim Communities (NASIMCO) and the United States' Center for Islamic Learning (CIL), the program began during May 2021 and has become one of the most populated international Qur'an competitions in America.[2] In its first year, about 1000 participants from over 50 countries took part in the competition, including the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, India, Pakistan, Tanzania, and the United Arab Emirates.[3] [4]
