George Grylls (born 1994) is an English journalist. He is the defence and political correspondent for The Times.[1][2]
Early life and education
[edit]Grylls attended Westminster School, London and St Edmund Hall, Oxford University, and later studied International Journalism at City University, London.[3]
Career
[edit]Grylls contributed to publications including the RIBA Journal,[4][5] and Prospect,[6][7]. His analysis of Soviet social housing was featured in the Towards a Concrete Utopia exhibition at Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), New York.[8][9]
Despite this early experience as a freelance contributor, he "stumbled" into his career as a journalist, beginning on The Times as a political reporter.[1] As the defence and political correspondent, his reporting includes coverage of international conflicts such as the Israel-Palestine conflict and the Russo-Ukraine war.[10][11][12][13][14]
In 2019, Grylls won the Anthony Howard Award for Young Journalists with his proposal to investigate the rise of the YouTube politician.[15][3][16] This work led to contributions in publications like The Times,[17][18] The Guardian,[8] The Australian,[19][20] and The New Statesman.[21][22][23]
