Fulcrum Dynamics International, or simply FDI is an aviation engineering firm based in England, United Kingdom, that designs, manufactures and sells Unmanned surface vehicles, Unmanned aerial vehicles and Unmanned underwater vehicles globally. FDI also offers services and support for their products and 3rd party products. Fulcrum Dynamics International (formally Dorset Flight Dynamics) was founded by Oscar EJ Rawles on February 12, 2021.[1] The current company is a x3 rebrand of former Dorset Flight Dynamics which was further renamed to Fulcrum Dynamics International on February 19, 2023.

FDI operates throughout Europe and North America and has played a role in technology advancements for unmanned aviation worldwide: developing composite material sciences specifically for lightweight unmanned aircraft, aide to the design of rotary wing unmanned aerial vehicles and bringing jet power to hobbyist unmanned aviation.

History

[edit]

Origins

[edit]

Fulcrum Dynamics International was started in Weymouth, UK in 2021 when 13 year old student Oscar EJ Rawles founded a collaborative group named "Dorset Flight Dynamics". Multiple of Oscar's friends showed an interest in collaborating in the project aircraft, named Jaegr: a 2 seat light aircraft with a low-wing configuration. However, due to the size of the project and the lack of funding, the aircraft was never built, therefore the project was scrapped. Anyone who showed interest no longer wished to remain with the project, leaving Oscar to contribute to the new project alone. The new project was the first sold and flown aircraft designed by Oscar EJ Rawles. The aircraft designed was a high-wing unmanned aerial vehicle capable of a 50kg (110.2lbs) freight capacity and used a 125cc go-cart engine to fly.

The sale of the first design funded the initial founding of what is now known as Fulcrum Dynamics International. The development of multiple aircraft lead to fleet catagorisation , which lead to further financial growth for the company.
