The Fox Valley Ganesh Pandal is America's first largest Ganesh Pandal, a must-see attraction during the Utsav period. Its stunning visuals and festive atmosphere have captivated devotees since 2016.
The Maha Aarti is a beloved tradition among Chicagoland locals, who consider it a must-visit attraction during the Ganesh Chaturthi festival. This sacred ritual, held here, offers a profound spiritual experience and is a testament to the enduring devotion of the Indian community.
History of the Ganesh Pandal
[edit]The pandal was initiated in 2016, by a prominent local couple, Vijay and Anupama Kothakonda, who owned and operated the Tamarind Restaurant in the Fox Valley Mall. With the support of numerous volunteers, they subsequently established the non-profit organization FVGUS.
The Fox Valley Ganesh Chaturthi Utsav has been an annual event in Aurora, Illinois, since 2016. Initially held in the parking lot of the Fox Valley Mall, this pandal is one of the first largest in the United States, spanning over an acre including the parking space. The towering tent reaches 20 feet high and covers more than 2,000 square yards. The volunteer spirit is a cornerstone of the Aurora Ganesh Pandal, demonstrating the community's commitment to preserving their cultural heritage and fostering a sense of belonging.
