Floyd Wesley "Wes" Cook was a pivotal American illustrator, designer, muralist and concept artist whose works were commissioned and built by Disney, McDonalds, ABC TV and more. His concept art influenced sets, styles and showpieces for throughout the latter half of the 1900s, and can be seen on kids television shows (H.R. Pufnstuf[1]), awards shows (including the set for the Academy Awards), theme parks (including Tokyo DisneySea), shopping malls, mascots, parade floats and restaurants. In addition to being an artist, he brought deep technical knowledge, pairing his concepts with clear instructions for building and assembly.[2]
He was born in Hollywood, California, on March 24, 1931. His final mural was for a youth centre in Hollywood called "My Friend's Place."[3]
