Finnish Industry Investment Ltd (Tesi) is a private equity and venture capital investment company wholly owned by the Finnish state. It invests directly in Finnish startups and growth companies, as well as in venture capital and private equity funds that invest in them. Tesi invests as a minority shareholder alongside private investors, operating on market terms and under the same conditions. Tesi aims to develop the Finnish venture capital and private equity market through:

  • its investment activities
  • providing and sharing market information
  • promoting sustainability within companies and the venture capital and private equity sector
  • connecting domestic and international players in the venture capital and private equity field

Tesi has an industrial policy mission focused on fostering economic growth, renewal, and promoting investments. In addition, Tesi manages external funds under specific mandates. These mandates include co-financing programs created in collaboration with the European Investment Bank and five fund of funds (KRR I–V) established in partnership with Finnish institutional investors.

Finnish Industry Investment, currently brand-named Tesi, was founded in 1995.

The company’s operations have always been governed by the law and regulations specific to the state-owned enterprise. The Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment is responsible for the company’s economic policy direction and ownership oversight.
