Finally! is the upcoming seventh studio album by American band The Aquabats, released on June 21, 2024, on the band's self-operated label Gloopy Records.[1]
Overview
[edit]In late 2018, The Aquabats launched a high-profile Kickstarter campaign to help fund the creation of new episodes of the band's television series The Aquabats! Super Show! and a new studio album, eventually surpassing several stretch goals to finance two new studio albums. The first of these albums, Kooky Spooky...In Stereo, was released in August 2020. In November 2022, the band announced in a Kickstarter update that they had returned to the studio to begin work on the second album, though offered little information on its status until February 2024, when they publicly announced the album's title, tracklist, cover and release date.[2]
The announcement of Finally! also announced the return of former members Catboy (Boyd Terry) and and Chainsaw, the Prince of Karate (Corey Pollock) and the introduction of new keyboardist Gorney (Matt Gorney) to The Aquabats' line-up, marking the band's return to an eight-member line-up for the first time since 2000.[2] As such, Finally! was the first Aquabats album since 1999's The Aquabats vs. the Floating Eye of Death! to feature an full-time horn section.
Prior to the albums announcement, on July 13, 2023, the band quietly released "Bunny Teeth" on their SoundCloud account. In promotion of Finally!, The Aquabats released the first single and music video from the album, "No Rewind!", on May 31, 2024. This was followed a week later by another single and music video, "Dr. Space Mummy!".
