The Femina Miss India Earth title was a distinguished accolade awarded during the annual Femina Miss India beauty pageant, designating the recipient as India’s representative to the international Miss Earth competition. The Miss Earth pageant, established in 2001, emphasizes environmental awareness and responsibility.

Historical Context: • 2001-2013: From the inception of Miss Earth in 2001 until 2013, Femina Miss India selected its third-place winner to compete in the Miss Earth pageant. This practice began in 2002, transitioning the third-place title nofrom Miss India Asia Pacific International to Femina Miss India Earth.  • 2014 Onwards: In 2014, the selection process evolved. The Miss Diva pageant, a sister competition to Femina Miss India, began sending representatives to Miss Earth. Consequently, the Femina Miss India Earth title was discontinued, and the responsibility of appointing India’s Miss Earth delegate shifted to other national pageants, such as Miss Divine Beauty.

India’s participation in the Miss Earth pageant has been marked by significant achievements: • 2001: Shamita Singha was among the Top 10 finalists in the inaugural Miss Earth pageant.  • 2006: Amruta Patki earned the title of Miss Air (first runner-up), showcasing India’s strong presence.  • 2007: Pooja Chitgopekar continued the trend by also securing the Miss Air title.  • 2010: Nicole Faria achieved a historic milestone by becoming the first Indian to win the Miss Earth crown, highlighting India’s commitment to environmental causes on a global stage.
