Fate (typically stylized as Fate/<subtitle>) is a Japanese multimedia franchise created by Type-Moon, a company founded by author Kinoko Nasu and artist Takashi Takeuchi. The franchise consists of sequels and spin-offs of Type-Moon's original visual novel Fate/stay night. The franchise has expanded into various media, including video games, anime, manga, light novels, and stage plays.
The concept of the franchise largely revolves around mages (called "masters") summoning the spirits of legendary, mythical, and historic figures (called servants) to aid them against other master-and-servant pairs in a battle royal called the Holy Grail War.
