About

[edit]

Born in Milan, Celestini attended the Ennio Quirino Visconti Liceo Ginnasio before leaving to study architecture at the Sapienza University of Rome.

He moved to New York City in 1982, where he worked for three seasons as artistic director for Elsa Martinelli's prêt-à-porter collections on Seventh Avenue.[1] After a brief experience as an advertiser in the fashion industry, he moved to Los Angeles where he worked on TV movie productions for Showtime and Paramount. He then returned to Italy to work as an executive at Racing Pictures[2].Celestini managed various television productions, co-produced with both RAI[3] and Mediaset.

By the mid 1990s, Celestini's work reached Giuseppe Pittau, the rector of the Pontifical Gregorian University, who entrusted him with the task of creating the Office for Public Relations and the University magazine,[4] in collaboration with the Gregorian Foundation from New York.[5]

From 1996 to 1998, he volunteered at the Vatican Jubilee Committee. There he met Richard Leach, a producer at PBS, with whom he created Francesco Il Musical performed at the newly formed Lyrick Theatre in Assisi.[6] Celestini oversaw the design and construction of the space and it was opened in May 2000.[7]

In 2008, the Municipality of Rome awarded him the Sympathy Award as a "prominent person in the entertainment sector".[8]
