Erragheb Hormatollah is a Moroccan politician, currently President of the Municipal Council of Dakhla, a city located in southern Morocco. He was elected to this position in September 2021, representing the National Rally of Independents (RNI) and quickly implemented initiatives to modernize and develop his city.

Education and Career

Hormatollah is a state engineer in IT development and project management. His technical expertise has led him to participate in various local development projects, including the “Dakhla.net” project, which aims to digitalize the city’s services. Under his leadership, the Dakhla Municipal Council has committed to improving the living conditions of citizens and making Dakhla an economic, ecological and tourist hub.

Engagement at the African Level

In addition to his local role, Erragheb Hormatollah was elected president of the Young Elected Local Officials of Africa (YELO) Network in October 2022. This organization aims to strengthen the participation of young elected officials in local governance and promote sustainable development on the African continent. Hormatollah thus represents a new generation of African leaders engaged in regional cooperation and local development.

Political Position

Hormatollah is also active on the international scene, having participated in discussions at the United Nations where he defended the rights of the Moroccan Sahrawi populations against the Polisario’s allegations. He stressed the legitimacy of his election by the citizens of Dakhla, stating that this gives him the right to speak on behalf of his community.
