She is the founder, CEO, and creative director of her namesake luxury womenswear brand, ERIN NESMITH, which has quickly gained recognition in the fashion industry for its elegant and empowering designs.
Early Life and Education
[edit]Erin Nesmith was born and raised in Rochester, NY. From a young age, she demonstrated a passion for the arts, expressing herself through painting and other creative pursuits. This early love for art laid the foundation for her career in fashion design, where her artistic vision continues to influence her work.
In 2016, Nesmith was awarded the Rising Star Scholarship through the Arts Council of Wyoming County, a prestigious recognition granted annually to a current or recently graduated college student, or a young artist up to the age of 29, who has consistently pursued a visual art career. The scholarship included all-expense-paid participation in the Letchworth Arts and Crafts Show presented by the Arts Council for Wyoming County, significant publicity, and a solo exhibition the following year. Nesmith pursued a degree in Accounting, which later provided her with valuable business acumen when founding her own fashion brand. She also earned a degree in Fashion Business Management from the Fashion Institute of Technology, equipping her with the skills and knowledge to navigate the fashion industry successfully.
Career
[edit]Erin Nesmith launched her professional fashion career in 2018 with the debut of her lingerie line, focusing on designs that celebrated femininity and empowered women. The following year, she showcased her bridal lingerie collection during Fashion Week Rochester [2], which marked a pivotal moment for her brand. The collection was picked up and sold in-store at Stella’s Bridal Boutique in Le Roy, NY, becoming her brand’s first stockist.
Following this initial success, Nesmith expanded her creative vision by transitioning into formal womenswear. She founded the luxury brand ERIN NESMITH, targeting affluent women, with a mission to blend empowerment, artistry, and sustainable fashion. The brand's offerings, which range from bespoke tailoring to ready-to-wear clothing, are distinguished by their elegant silhouettes, bold patterns, and high-quality craftsmanship.
Her career took a significant leap when she was featured on the Tamron Hall Show's Up and Coming Designer Series in September of 2024, which provided her with mentorship under CFDA Designer, Bibhu Mohapatra.
